I have a 98 big bear 5-speed with a few minor mods(mostly bolt-on, stock guts) that I absolutely enjoy mudding every chance I get. Here's my problem: my ride's brakes suck!!! Have tried 2 types of shoes, sealants, even clean them after every ride.
Question: Anybody know of a disc being mounted on the rear axle?? Is one available? Any other mods that you would care to pass on as to improving stock shoes?

Peregrine,

Just get used to it. Even if you switched to disk brakes, you will have the same problem. I have a Kodiak with disk brakes. I rarely use my brakes, the quad is only about 6 months old and I have changed out the pads twice so far.

EBC makes a slotted / holed rotor that runs about $125 that I'm looking at trying out to see if I can get increased pad life. If not, I will end up disconnecting my rear brakes completely.
