I just got a new left over 2005 Kodiak. I have many bikes and have had many others but this is the first new one. Do i need to baby this thing for the break in period? And what is involved in the first sirvice?

Id try to vary the rpm...dont just hold one rpm for an extended time. Dont let it idle much, and pretty much drive it as you normally would. The oil pressure and volume are quite low at idle rpm, and a new motor needs more pressure and volume than that for breakin.
1st service is usually an oil and filter change, air filter clean and reoil, and check the valve clearance, and look for loose bolts.
