I just bought a couple Grizzlys and the dealer stressed how important th break in period is on these machines. My question is can I use synethic oil in it or is the Yamaha oil synethic? Also does anyone know if it is the same oil filter for the 700 and 450? These are my first ATV's so if anyone has some hints I would apperiate it.

OK what about after the break in? Is there certian brands to go with or stay away from? I put Mobil 1 in everything from my lawnmower, generator and cars. Is that ok for these? I know my Roadking take speical oil, thats why I am asking.

it really dont matter after break-in just use your favorite type of oil i use 4-cycle oil from the shop

 

i would stay with yamalube or at least an oil made for motorcycles your bikes have wet clutches even though they have belts and are automaticssome dont like polaris and kawasaki like i said yamalube or at least motorcycle oil thats alot of money you got there take care of it travis

Both of your machines have wet clutches...they are behind the primary pulley, so make sure whatever oil you use, that it is rated for wet clutches. JASO MA, is what you will be looking for on the container. It must not have the energy conserving star burst symbol, like on car oil. Those oils have moly added, which can be incompatible with wet clutches.

 

I stick with yamalube myself and the plus is that they now offer a synthetic and a semisynthetic(goes in my wolvy) as well as plain old dino juice(in my old quads)
