660 Frame Swap
#1
I have a griz with a bent frame and I just came across a used straight frame for a good price. My question is with a standard set of tools and a decent amount of mechanical ability could I swap it out myself or should I pay to have it done.

If you have the time and the space I say go for it. I did this to a warrior and rented a PODS to do the work in. I completed it in one month, mostly because thats all the longer I rented it for. I just parked the new frame all the way up front and pushed the bad bike in nose to nose, and got to work. I had an extention cord ran out there with some lights I temped in, and a radio. I did need a buddy to come over foer a couple of nights to help with a couple 3 and 4 hand tasks. This could be done in less time than I did, you just have to set your mind to it. The 200 for the pod, and 250 for the frame came out a hell of alot cheaper than having a shop do the work, I didn't even waste my time for an estimate. This will also give you and your bike some quality bonding time, (blood, sweat, tears, busted nuckels, etc.). You can also clean everything real good and learn alot about how some components work.

Thanks for the reply, I've been going back and forth on doing the job myself and finally decided I have more time than money so I'm gonna go for it. I found a good used frame for $350 and the guy I bought it from is a grizzly guru so he's gonna give me some guidence if I get stuck. Thanks again for the tips.
