???

You never mentioned what mods you have...
Nor how much you want to spend...
So it's difficult to make recommendations.

Adding a hotcam is pointless without other engine mods.

If you are bone stock, try K&N, open airbox, aftermarket exhaust (header & slip-on), and a new CDI. That's the basic start.

If you want addidional mods, it all depends on how far you want to go. $$ and reliability. Make sure you look at the whole picture, not just upgrade only a piston or cam or porting or.....

Whoops. Dewey stepped into your thread (no mods listed).

Changing the Cam is what creates the higher compression. If you increase compression, the stock piston may not last long (depending on how high you go). So putting a new piston in at the same time makes the most sense.

For the Raptor 700. . . first it's the 3-mod (Pipes, Air Filter and Power Commander).

After that, the six mod is the next step. . . (3-mods + Dynateck + the +2TB + Stage 2 Hot Cam). At this point the head hasn't been pulled yet.

After that, look at port work and a high compression piston or big-bore.

How much power do you want / need?

Most guys with the Raptor 700 and the Hot Cam II are running it with the stock springs. I agree, springs are a conservative way to go but, most run the stock springs with that cam.
