king - not trying to stir anything. . . do a search - on other forums there are a ton of guys running the HC II without changing the springs. The thing you have to remember is this cam / head is nothing like the 660 cam/head. The 700 head is totally different and there are a bunch of guys running the cam without changing springs and a number of the big builders that are saying it is fine.

All that being said, it can't hurt to change the springs. Just not something that is needed based on everything I've read.

sorry i thought we were talking about the 660 but i would still do stiffer springs for better throttle response.

The valve springs will protect you from floating a valve. Never heard of it helping throttle response???

The MegaCycle X2 Cam is much more aggressive. Great for the big-bores!

You absolutely need springs with this cam. You also may need to make some modifications for clearance from what I've heard.

I've heard the X2 cam may not give you as much if you are looking for a drop-in cam. Once you build your bike I understand you'll see more of an increase (i.e. big-bore, stroke, etc.)
