Looking for a Big Bear Skidplate
#2
I purchased the Yamaha factory skid plate with the aluminum bash plate, they come together. The skid is basically a high density composite which I was skeptical about at first but after going over several logs and a few rocks , it is holding up good. The installation was a breeze only problem was you need to install the center bracket on the skid plate before you install the plate on the machine. Leave it loose and then all you have to do is lift and turn it over the frame bar and tighten the nut. I learned this the hard way. Hope this helps. Noticed your from Monroe , I lived in Jonesboro in 89 for about a year, you should have some goooood old swampy mud to ride in down there.

Thanks guys, I was wondering about the factory one and how it would hold up. The Highlifters are nice but $$$. I wasn't too worried about a skidplate for the mud I ride in, but went through some thick stuff hauling a deer out of the woods a while back and a stick got stuck between the oil cooler lines at the bottom of the engine. Luckily it was a rotten stick and did no damage, but it made me realize that I need a some protection there.
I duck hunt in ricefields and flooded timber and have gone in some pretty interesting places this winter. So far, the Big Bear has gone anywhere I have wanted it to!
Thanks again for the info.
