Where do you live? I am thinking you want to take it to a local shop or are you looking to ship the engine to a race shop? Might as well do the latter if you have the $$ since you are probably looking at a new piston and/or head work anyway. Since they are already in there might as well get her massaged a little. Anyway, someone can give you a better answer knowing what area of the country you are in and what you want/need done to it.

The key is, if he does that he wants a dealership that knows how to fix it. There are a couple my way that I wonder if you wouldn't be inviting more problems than solutions.

i checked with my dealer ship and they told me to touchy to mess with send it off to someone that relaly has the know how, the piston isnt hurt as the person who had it before had bored it out and when they put it back togather with new piston didnt gets timeing right and turned it over with starter and poof bent the valves so it hasnt run since it was redone and i got it very cheep because they couldnt figure out what was wrongbut valve is bent in such a way cant move it at all and dont want to mess it up i would imagiune its going to need new guides and all

Most of the dealerships I've been to don't have "professionals" at all. Usually couple guys about my age (around 23-27) working on the bikes occasionally being checked in on by an older "experienced" gentleman who is getting $40 of the $50 charged for ordering parts. I'd take it to the local powersports shop owned and operated by an experienced guy over a dealership that will have 2 or 3 any body's working on it any day. Those guys are the real enthusiast who know there stuff.

Of course this is all speaking in my opinion and experience. Everyone is entitled to there own and ymmv.
