Default warrior problems :/

i got a 2001 yamaha 350 warrior.
i just changed the oil, put new gas and everything.
the battary is brand new

it wont electric start, i dont know why it might just be a short but the main problem is,
when we push/pull start it, it will start but wont give gas.
and willl cut off shortly after it starts.

my friend from the yamaha shop told me its the roader/stroader/strider(something like that i forgot what its called) but does anyone agree?
he told me it will cost about 200$
does anyone know what he is talking about?

do you mean stator, and what do you mean by "won't give gas" do you mean you it stalls if you give it a little gas?

yeah i think.
would that stator be bad?

when i hit the gas it will go vroom vroom but it wont go forward
and it just stalls after about 30 seconds when i push/pull start it

I had a polaris sportsman 335 and it did basically the same thing, they had to replace the stator, and it ran fine after that. It would die if you gave it gas, and it would only stay running for about 5-10 seconds. If i remember right we had to rope start it cuz the electric start wouldn't work on it either. The worst problem is that i don't know of a way to test it before you spend the cash for a new one.

i guess i will just go ahead and spend money for a new one, that has to be the only thing wrong.
do you remember how much you paid for a stator and how hard it was to install?

if you are goin to do it yourself, i would pick up a clymer manual to guide you through the process.
