again!!
I still have doubts that ihatemyraptor really owns a raptor since him and Mhargrove have failed to answer thenewfiebullet questions?
He asked mhargrove how ihatemyraptor built his 400ex "it screems" but yet ihatemyraptor can't even tune his own raptor.
I sense alot of contridictions to ihatemyraptor's post.
It's a giving with quads, dirtbikes, motorcycles, snowsleds, etc that if you are buying these to be the fastest you are going to have to expect to soak ALOT of money into them to make them faster then the next guys.
I up the bid to 3500.00

Oh boy, here we go again! Look, all this comparing "apples to oranges" drives me nuts. It seems to me that Ihatemyraptor had a very bad experiance trying to tune his quad. There is definately something wrong if a stock quad smokes a modded one. I'd probably be discouraged myself, but whinning isn't going to solve the problem, and there is no reason to bash him for expressing his opinion. It seems like alot of people in these forums are worried about which quad is "the fastest". Who cares?? I'm sure there are some people out there who do want the fastest in a straight line race, and if that's the case, buy a 2-stroke quad and modify it beyond belief. I didn't buy my Raptor cause it was the fastest quad availaible, I thought it was the best all around new quad available. True, the 400EX is a great quad also, but I liked the fact that the Raptor was liquid cooled, and has a bit more power. To say that the Raptor doesn't handle well is a flat out lie. It does need some chassis upgrades to handle great, but it is good from the factory, as is the 400EX, the 250R, etc. All of this bashing quads and manufacturers does nothing to help out our sport. Being pig-headed about a certain name brand is rediculous. I've owned Honda's, Suzuki's, and my Raptor is my first Yamaha. I love 'em all. Each has strong points and weak points, and it's up to the owner to suit his/her quad to their preferance. No one quad is perfect. It's my opinion that we all need to band together and try to promote our sport in a positive way, because there are enough outside influences that would just assume that we should not be able to ride at all. Let's use the forum for what it's intended. Helping each other out. I don't care if my quad is the fastest, the biggest, or the baddest, as long as it's fun to ride, and I can enjoy the sport that I have come to love. All I can say is that I hope Ihatemyraptor works out the bugs in his quad, it still may not live up to his expectations, but that's something to think of when purchasing a new quad...ride it before you buy it, don't just listen to all the hype. Come on people, lets remember the saying,"united we stand, divided we fall".

LMAO. Havent been here for several months, due to whining little kids. Now look what I see. Lol.

It's humorous you would chastise others.

Ihatemyraptor ---> Name another quad you can buy right now, that OVERALL, in ALL catagories can compare to the Raptor. Name it !

I know you won't agree, but the 400EX. It won't beat it in every category, but the Raptor won't beat the EX in every category either. For instance, in cornering the Raptor doesn't stand a chance against an EX. In straight line acceleration, the EX won't beat a Raptor. Overall, in typical trail riding, the EX is faster, stock for stock.

You cant, and that's why Yamaha declared it the New King. NOT the Dune King, not the Drag strip King, NOT the Mud King, not the MX King.

That's an interesting statement.

You are such a moron. What did you think the Raptor was ? ( rocket fuel powered jet craft??)

(& next couple of lines)

Acting a bit childish don't you think?

Also, to the guy that posted the Race results
LOL.
What does that prove? What it proves to me, is that the quad was barely on the market, and 100's of Experienced riders on Hondas had 2 "new" Raptor in their ranks.

I suppose all Raptor riders are newbies? That explains a lot. Also why do you suppose there were only 2 Raptors in that class? Probably the same reason there weren't any Polaris riders there. It's not for lack of units in the field as obviously there are plenty Raptor & Polaris owners out there.

Point is, that the person I responded to claimed that the Raptor was dominating racing in his local circuit and that other riders were complaining about them. I pulled those stats from the main series in that person's state. Recieved no comment. These results are not isolated.

Your theory also fails in that when the 400EX first came out, all over the country it was winning races in it's first week & beyond. I have a friend that purchased one right away after experiencing this & I saw it myself. Why can't the Raptor in all it's greatness accomplish the same?

I really enjoy the excuses, keep them up, they make me smile.

Put those riders that won these events, on Raptors, mod'd for the race style ( like all others), and then report the TIMES . Are you thinking the Raptor times, with the same riders, will be LOWER..i think NOT.

If that's the case, why aren't the fast riders doing this themselves? Fast riders are very competitive and the right machine can mean the difference between winning and losing. Why would they be riding on a lesser machine when they could go out and buy a Raptor today and instantly begin dominating their respective classes?

And yes, lap times would typically be lower in all but the most open races, equal money spent.

Don't believe me? Enter a race sometime, see how fast you really are. If your Raptor is stock, enter the beginner class, hell, the B class is also generally full of basically stock quads. I have won many races on a basically stock machine. Even now, mine is only lightly modded. Any way about it, you will most likely have fun, learn to be a better rider, meet new friends, and maybe even develop a greater respect for the smaller cc'd machines.

I'm not saying a Raptor isn't fast, I'm not saying it's not a fine machine. It's just not the be all - end all machine you guys are making it out to be and it's quite humorous how offended you guys become when someone points this out.

you guys are just proving ihatemyraptor's point! by saying the raptor is only worth between 2000 and 3500, a 300ex costs that! the main point the honda guys are making is that for the price of a stock raptor you can make a faster 400ex. i just know one of you will make a stupid comment like "with the same mods my raptor will be faster" well, then you have spent more, and the 400ex could have been better for the same price. dont forget the a-arms, swing arm and axle you will need to make it more stable!

Excellent way of putting it Badchad!!!! I agree w/ you all the way. My bother and I are coming off of 295r's and our wives ride 400ex's. Our Raptors are great, our 295's were great and the 400's are great, I'm sure a Bombardier is great also, each in their own way. People here in Utah buy the two strokes to mostly shoot the biggest baddest sand hill in the country. It's to bad that people think a four stroke can wax a two stoke because it is bigger in cc's. I'm sorry to say but thats all alot of people here are into, just shooting Sand Mtn. My Raptor may not shoot the hill as fast but so what I new it wouldn't. It is 15 years of new technology the industry has been dying for. I love not mixing oil and it's so nice not to rev it to the moon just to get going. It does alot of other things two strokes can't do and thats why I sold my 295. Would anybody put an RC51 World Superbike up against a 500cc G.P bike. The 500 would win everytime. There is more to riding then a straight line or shooting up a hill. I still to this day don't miss my 295 nor does my brother.

Try putting reverse on that 400ex and see how much that costs you.
