You're assuming that everyone will want wider A-arms for the Raptor, and that no one will want a narrower DS. The DS is just WAY too big for most of the trails around here.

 

I don't need 50hp. I just needed reverse. This plus just having the bike I wanted was worth the extra $1000 to me. Let me spend my money the way I want.

Right about now i am really pi$$ed,
I smashed my hand on monday and had surgery on tuesday do repair it and now look at this mess.
Mr hatemyraptor obviously does not know anything about duning or he would be griping about a modified banshee he blew $9000 on. No Yamaha ad i ever seen mentioned riding dunes on a Raptor.
You Loser if you are losing to stock quads, maybe you should, clean the air filter, change the plug, Adjust the valves,change the oil and filter, put a 12T cs sprocket and make sure none of the carb lines are pinched.
As far as all of you 400ex riders saying they are cheaper to build, your probably going to meet up with someone on a blaster with a 265 kit that will smoke that 416ex. For cheaper too. This post is the biggest bunch of crap, y dont you atleast post your pictures of it? Is it a Calif. Raptor?
I know that bone stock I smoked three different banshees all the until i hit top, and they had more top speed when i revved out except the stock 2001 banshee. the others where ported and piped.
As far as you thinking you should have bought another machine I dont think any other stocker could impress you either. Y dont you just suck it up go back to the dealer and get a banshee, That is unless you have abused it and dont think they will take the machine back. But if your tearing up a new machine then you dont deserve anything.

What does that prove? What it proves to me, is that the quad was barely on the market, and 100's of Experienced riders on Hondas had 2 "new" Raptor in their ranks.

Put those riders that won these events, on Raptors, mod'd for the race style ( like all others), and then report the TIMES . Are you thinking the Raptor times, with the same riders, will be LOWER..i think NOT.

weibz...food for thought...if the Raptor is not the king of MX,Dunes,Mud,Trails etc. then why is it the new king? Just because Yamaha declares it to be so? It seems that unless it excells at something then it cannot be the new king of anything.

I can't stand the raptor the only thing it's good for is racing and dunes, groomed trails with exceptions.

If you wanted to bring that overpowered speed trap on "real world trails" I'll be glad to provide the tow strap after you get stuck in mud or go backwards down a steep hill, ($500 onhand deposit for tow strap).

Another thing is I'm sick and tired of dodging flying carburators coming off from your overpriced "toy" with a seat so stiff it will send someone with hemorrhoids to thier death bed.LOL.

I still have doubts that ihatemyraptor really owns a raptor since him and Mhargrove have failed to answer thenewfiebullet questions?
He asked mhargrove how ihatemyraptor built his 400ex "it screems" but yet ihatemyraptor can't even tune his own raptor.
I sense alot of contridictions to ihatemyraptor's post.
It's a giving with quads, dirtbikes, motorcycles, snowsleds, etc that if you are buying these to be the fastest you are going to have to expect to soak ALOT of money into them to make them faster then the next guys.

This is funny!

Starting this spring with all the hare scramble series starting we will see what the Raptor is made of. Look at the amateur classes, not the pro classes. This is a more accurate picture of what you or I could expect. I can't wait to be lined up against a Raptor this spring at the start of a GNCC. My modded Scrambler 400 4x4 can take most quads in the distance to the first turn. Once in the woods I lose ground quick with that heavy monster lol.

How many of you think to yourself "I wonder how much it will cost or how easy will it be to ???" before you buy a quad? That is one of the main questions I ask myself. Back when I first bought my first quad I had an easy decision. I wanted a 4x4 with a two stroke. Lucky me! Polaris made just what I wanted. This was in Jan. 98. Had it been the fall of 98 I probably would have bought a 400ex and lived with no 4x4. After racing the Scrambler for awhile I decided to buy a lighter quad. I wrestled with the choice of 400ex or Raptor. I bought an 86 TRX250R! The reason being that I could spend the same amount and end up with a better quad with more choices on mods. Am I the only one that looks at this or did all the Raptor owners decide that they would leave their quads stock.

We will learn alot when the racing season cranks up in about 6 weeks.

I hope my hand heals before the Scrambles get under way here. Im already in withdrawal from not riding my raptor. I plan to give it a go on a relatively stock raptor, probably just change tires and skids, snd CS sprocket. Then I will do the exhaust and filter. And finally Suspension.
