Banshee Project
Unless you do ALL the work yourself i have to agree with pmcc37. Plus you would want to find a 91 and later. 87-90 had what is called the J-arm front suspension. I think the J stood for JUNK!!!!! lol. No really i have rebuilt mine at least twice through. Each time i i sunk over 500 in the motor alone. If you have to do the crank the center section is $400 alone. Than you have to find a reliable shop to do the rest of the crank. Than on a machine that old you'd be hard pressed to find one that doesn't have cracks all throughout the frame. Don't get me wrong the banshee is a good quad but an 87 is 21 years old!!! thats allot of time to have serious damage done to a Banshee.

I want to do the same thing one day. First off as floppa said '91 or newer. It's best to make it your project not build it so you have a ride that way you can spend time and save money for it.
As far as price well, It'll cost you whatever you want to spend. I don't think you will necessarily be better off buying a running one because it won't come how you want it and you may dump the same amount in it for engine/suspension/exhaust/rims.
It basically depends on what you want to do to it. Get stock suspension off ebay for couple hundred or drop 2 grand for the good stuff for example.
