Actually that's the reason for the threaded coupling and adaptor, to allow removal of the front cover, should the need arise. No you can't take the snorkel out of the cover but you can unscrew the snorkel from the quad and take the snorkel and cover off as an assembly.
Your rubber coupling idea is very good too and I originally considered it but I didn't want the snorkel to flex around too much so I made a more rigid connection that was still removable.</end quote></div>
Right - I understand why you had the threaded coupler, but the bottom part that attaches to the quad does not allow you to remove the front fender if needed. The rubber coupler is pretty rigid as it is supported by the plastic cover. Also in MAINE snorkles are Illegal on quads... :-)
Beanis - I highly recommend the rubber joint that I have - leakproof and still allows removal of snorkle, front cover AND front fender...

Your right although the polyurethane adhesive can be remove with a little effort. But I agree about the rubber coupling allowing for easier fender removal if you ever had to do that. So I guess either way is a bit of a trade off.
CraZySteve, what logic do the legislators use for making snorkels illegal in Maine?
Do they consider it a threat to public safety?
I can hardly wait to hear this BS
Maybe it's the same logic they use here to legislate that a gun with a 3.99" barrel is far more lethal than one with a 4" barrel, so honest citizens can't own them. It appears that the crooks don't care about any of this anyway!
Sorry! I sometimes go off on a rant when I hear dumb laws!

Copied from Maine's 2008 ATV Laws:
26. Prohibited equipment. A person may
not operate an ATV that is equipped with
a snorkel kit or other equipment designed
to allow the ATV to be used in deep water
except with the permission of the owner of
the land on which the ATV is operated or
as provided in section 13159
