Warrior Problems...big surprise??

Default Warrior Problems...big surprise??

i have a 95 and it runs great...no probs ever...so i decided to buy another one...got a 97 that had sat for about a year...it starts fine and runs good until i get more than a quarter into the throttle and then its spits and sputters....any ideas on where to start?

Clean the carb and jets out and put it back on...

Yep, the main jet is clogged. Take it out and blow thru it with air or carb cleaner.

If it sat that long, the pilot is probably gunked up, too, it has extemely tiny holes in it, make sure you blow carb cleaner out of it as well, it controls throttle response from idle to about 1/4 throttle,so it could be giving you problems as well.
Also, make sure and check the parking brake switch, it is meant to keep the motor from going much off idle if the brake is set, but if the switch goes bad, it will sputter when you try to give it more throttle. Just unplug it and see if it runs better that way.

i took the carb off and cleaned it...still did it...there was a breather hose on the carb...i tried to blow in it and it had mud and a wasp in it...now it runs fine...

ok i hade the same prob its the carb their is a screw at the bottom of the carb move it in all the way then back it out like 1 turn. see what happon to mine was i backed that screw out a little and it gave it more gas and it did the same thing but it also burned up my piston rings cause it cause alot more gas to go into the head i say get a new carb i did and i have no more problems runs great the carb i got was the Yamaha Warrior Keihin Carburetor Kit its only 230 dollars its great

Did u put new gas in it? has it had any upgrades? like maybe a different cam or pipe cause if it did and the person u got it from might not of jetted it and u might need to go up on the jet. or maybe it could be your air filter so make sure its clean or just run it without it just to see if it maybe that

i put a new oem carb on it and when i tore the old one down the piece where the throttle cable goes in was rusted and stuck open and drown it out anytime i went over a quarter throttle...
