any bad years of the yfz 450? thanks

Early models had a problem with the wrist pin not properly being oiled. There is a mod to fix the problem but, I think yamaha fixed it on '07. I think that the newer models had a better way to tighten the chain instead of the retarded way they do on mine ('04). I have also heard of stator issues with the '04.

LED rear light found it's way in there somewhere and their are a lot of small differenced done over the years.

I have the '04. The first year and I absolutely love it. I just went for the best deal I could find. I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them.

Stator is easy enough. As for the oil thing not sure, havn't done mine. Look up yfz oil mod and you should find plenty of info on it.

 

anything newer than 2004 seems to be much more sought after. There were over 80 changes to the yfz450 for the 2005 model year to improve it and fix a lot of the little bugs it had.
