Geez... I thought buying a boat was going to be a money pit.
I see you have the elites in your profile.. is there any substantial difference if you went with the "pre load" only for normal trail riding and jumping here and there.. I'm not jumping 8' table tops..

I thought about getting the Elka shocks but they cost 1/3 of what the actual machine cost ...
So, I decided to fix the root of the problem - the OEM tires. I love the way the OEM tires preformed but they just rode too rough. I went with a set of AT489s (same stock size) and they ride much, much better. I'm very happy with them and they get way better mud traction to boot.

If you just want a softer ride and do not need the adjustablility of the elites then yes the preload only shocks would be a huge improvement over the stockers. I got the elites because it was only a $400 option at the time and I race my wolverine in local GNCC type events so i need the adjustablility for different tracks.

yes im sticll not over the sticker shock of the shocks but for me they are worth it. As far as tires go with the stockers i got alot of tire roll and had to run 10 psi of air in the fronts and 8 in the back. I also could not race in 4wd because the steering effort was to great. With the new 4-speeds the steering is so light in both 2wd and 4wd i need a steering stablizer so I dont over steer too much. they also have plenty of mud traction, at the last race it was nothing but a huge mud hole most of the race and I never got stuck.
