Default 4 stroke / 2 stroke comparisons

^^^^^^^the real reason they went out is becasue the emissions not because"they were badass and dangrous and thats why banned"

1 thing to consider when buying a 2-stroke is it cost alot more to run once you have it.

i used to own a lt250 and it is no where as fast as my raptor 700.

No way!your 700cc Raptor was faster than a 250? LOL

For awhile they put the 250 motocross engines in ATVs . All Manafactures also had 2 2troke 500cc open class motocross like the CR500,YZ490 and KX500, if they used those in the ATVs instead of the 250's do you think a 700 Raptor would stand a chance? and it still would have a 300cc advantage!

They just stopped making 2 stroke for the emission reason only, they would of always beat any 4 stroke in racing if they continued with them.

Look at snow machines which still use 2 strokes as well as new 4 strokes, the 2 stroke models are still there bad *** performance models, not there 4 strokes machines.

as a madder of fact i do think my raptor will keep up. and they did make a quad like that is called a suzuki quadzilla. and btw 500 to 700 is a 200cc difference not a 300cc. and thats if that zilla does not break down!

btw im not saying ill beat every zilla out there. they are some badass machines but i will beat most of them once i have my mods done to my bike.

exp if there are whoops in the way

The Quad zilla had a old 1987-90 RM 500 motocross motor. I,m talking about the newer 2000 CR500 the liquid cooled motors which had more power than there older versions.

Also if they keep making the things, I,m sure a 2008 LT500 Quadzilla would be faster and better handling and more reliable than a 1989 model like everything else built 20 years later.

Sorry I did mean 200cc oops.

the best cr500 motor came from a 87. after that they detuned them. i used to have a cr500 trike bro(with a 86 motor)the second fastest motor. that whould take out my raptor as it is right now but ill see once i get all my work done.

and im not even building my raptor that much. but it will have 75hp and about 55tq. some raptor are pushing 100hp now adays and the only reason they dont build them more is because they dont have a tranny that can hold it yeat. but you wait because they are making a billet tranny for them and that will hold a ton of hp.

a raptor with 100hp, maybe s street bike motor? or a turbo and NOS, c'mon thats alot of money to get 100 hp, thats far fetch, if you want to go fast do yourself a favor and buy a banshee and get a 421 cub and be pushing about 120 hp

For excitement, I would have to go with 2-stroke, no 4-stroke I've ridden ever hit the power band like a Banshee, for reliability, most 2-strokes are pushing 20 years old, except the banshee which is still being released new. But there usually will be a little tooling involved when buying a used 2-stroke, its not too hard, just go through the engine, replace worn parts, then do general maintenance and it'll all be worth it, 2-strokes can be reliable machines if you're smart about maintenance and basic stuff.

Thanks for the replies. Was away over the weekend having LASIK surgery on my eyes so just now getting back to check in.

My best friend rode a TRX250R back in the day so I have had quite a bit of chance to compare them. I liked the feel of the LT a little bit better myself, seems to fit taller riders a little better than the Honda to me. Both were great machines tho. I certainly wouldnt mind a TRX but they go for twice the price of an LT around here.

It's not about having the fastest thing around anymore. Rather it's about the rewarding HIT that comes from gassin' it on a 2 stroke and the powersliding ability that came on these old racers. I just can't see a Raptor with it's narrower and taller setup being able to flat track through a sweeper as well, and I loved that as much as anything on a quad.

I really need to ride a Raptor to see what the engine feels like and see how well it will drift through a corner or three. Same thing for a Banshee and see just how harsh the suspension is, and how nonexistant the low end is. I am sure I would love the Top End on one.

Thanks again for the good info guys.
