Default 99 warrior problem

well i just bought a battery for our 99 warrior since it didn't come with one.
so i get it hooked up and all that stuff, and i try to start it. all that happpens is a click when i try to start it. i think it is the starter that isn't working, but i need some more opinions on this. the battery is charged, its got plenty of gas. i hope to find out what the problem is.
thanks guys.

Default 99 warrior problem

take a skrew driver and jump the starter solenoid under the left fender it has a cable coming out of it that goes to the positive side of ur battery. there is another cable next to it with that bolts in to it they might have rubber boots on them pull them up so u con see both terminal bolts. put the screw driver on the bolts and make the driver connect the 2 and it will fire right up. as for the problem its the starter relay it is the second small white box next to where u put the screwdriver. it has wires going into the bottom and nothing coming out. again not the white one next to where u jump it but the las one if ur looking under ur left rear fender it is farthest to the right u need a new one.40 bucks at a yamaha dealer. but for now u have to jump it with the screwdriver

stswanson yea you can push start it. so when you did what woodsjunky said, the starter did not turn over?
it should have. try jumping it with something else, like a pice of wire from the two terminals. i would check all your connections, and clean them. might take a volt reading at the starter when you jump it too.

As StngGT350 said, first start by cleaning all of the connections on the battery, starter and the starter relay. Then check for proper power to the starter when the starter button is pushed with a volt meter. Everything is easy to access for testing and should only take a few moments to pinpoint the problem.
