Why are ATV's are the slowest off-road rides????

I could see wanting that much speed/hp if it were used for drag racing. I've done enough damage hitting trees at slower speeds. Speed my kill, but trust me, trees will at least leave a bruise.

To defend JT... the only 100 he mentioned was 100 HP [IMG][/IMG] It was OIown12 that mentioned 100mph + while sauced up </end quote></div>
You are right he did only mention 100 HP.
And that would probably push a quad way past 100 MPH considering 115 HP pushes a high friction loss sled up to 100 MPH.
I'm guessing a 100 HP quad it should be able to hit upwards of 140 MPH considering friction losses due to air speed are not linear.

I'd take a quad over a dirtbike anyday on the trails. My cousin had a 500cc 2 stroke dirtbike that would pull the front tire off the ground in 5th gear running 55mph with just a twist of the throttle. That thing scared the crap out of me but when we went riding we had to wait for him or get out of the way on hills or off camber riding. They're not as much fun and 100x more work for the rider.

JT if you want to go as fast as your R1 then sell you raptor, buy a used banshee and build it into a cub on alky, you seem to have the money and you seem to have the need for speed, IMO my banshee huals the mail pretty damn good, and i think those who want 100hp on a trail quad just to go fast just cant ride worth ****, if your saying you can ride your raptor 100% throttle all day everyday through all terrain then you better become a racer, if not, you have enough power to not kill yourself or you can buy a banshee and have more speed and accel.

It is kind of like saying why can't they make that 18 wheeler perform like a sports car. Quads are built to do different things.</end quote></div>
I agree. However, there are people that are stupid enough to try!
