The kodiak is the atv of the year and the 400 shoot out winner!!! I have the 2001 kodiak and LOVE this quad!! It has a top speed of around 53-54 mph. From what i have heard people have had them in deep water and have had no problems. It is a very smooth responsive machine . The on- off 4 wheel drive works without falt, you can shift on the fly and you dont hear a thing, it just goes in and out of 4 wheel drive nice and smooth. I have 230 miles on mine and cant give you any reason to not buy one of these. Go with the kodiak, you wont be sorry!!

You can get into water about 3 inches below the racks before you will take on water for the belt. If you do take on water, it is rather easy to get the water out afterwards. The quad is pretty good in the mud. Like any other quad, it does better if you have mud tires. Major advantage of the quad is that it's a very versatile machine. It handles well in all kinds of conditions. Some of the drawbacks is the rear brakes are crap, it being belt driven, no directional lighting. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy a Kodiak

I have many very hard miles on my 00kodiak and it has been and will be in the future a pleasure to ride. Its kinda the best of both worlds as far as a "utility-sport" quad goes. You will not be sorry if you purchase one!
