Default 2009 Yamaha ATV's!

True, Yamaha did need a machine to truly compete in the 500 cc class and now they will..

I know it will be a good quad - I don't doubt that ... It just isn't one I see myself buying anytime soon...

I truly enjoy the size and nimbleness of my Grizz 450 and I am sure that it will continue to impress me over the next 2-3 years... and then depending on how well it is holding up/running will I decide on a new machine...

Bottom line is Yamaha will sell this quad and they will make money on it.. no doubt!

And no straight rear axles unless you go down to a 350. I just like the straight axle. Much easier to slide the *** end around a turn. Not a whole hell of alot of rocks in Florida. Guess I will just have to start crossing over Gators!

me too. im used to honda staying the same for too long in the sport department, but not yamaha! i know they are testing a new yfz but i guess it wasnt ready. better that they held it and not released it if it wasnt right yet. YFZ is still a great bike. maybe ktm scared them off by coming out the gate swinging.

yeah i noticed the $200 increase in price. if im looking for one, it wil be a leftover with a discount. i see them for about $5600 new around here. the 700R is dipping to the 6k range. a 450R is about $5500 (estart). hell i saw a 08 or 07 LTR for 5000, new. id go for the 08 LTR with the 100+ changes. its just too wide where i ride though. Gas prices are affecting them b/c dealers have alot on their floors right now and atvs are not considered necessity items and the added cost of trailering them adds to their markdowns. they mark them down to move them.

Worked out Great considering we have only been together for a month.... LOL .. .don't need a little CraZySteve running around.. I need my sparetime to ride my ATV [img][/img] --</end quote></div>

Take it from someone who thought the same way you did about 12 years ago. I thought the last thing in the world I needed was kids.

Now I couldn't imagine going out with the ATV's without them. Except when I go with the boys!

But me thinks your not ready yet especially after only a month. You may find out in a year your not compatible.

Anyways I'm excited to find out what's in store for the Yami quads.

I think Yamaha did alright with the Grizzly 550. Yes, I would have LOVED to see that engine go into the Kodiak 450 frame, but I think there are still plenty of ppl who would rather have the fullsize chassis. Yeah $800 isn't a huge diff, but some ppl just don't want to swing that extra cash for a few more ponies. At least the Grizz isn't a big quad to begin with, compared to Polaris/Arctic Cat/Can-Am.

Power-wise, the 558cc engine is rated at 36.9hp at the crank, Suzuki 454cc King Quad is 36.7hp, and Can-Am Outlander 500 is 40hp, and the old Grizzly 660 was only rated at 40.9hp. So the 550 should still be pretty decent power-wise. I am also thinking it would be a tough feat to shove that 558cc engine in the Kodi frame, probably wouldn't work too well, and it costs LOTS of money for Yamaha to engineer a whole new frame.

Still, it is rather disapointing to see Yamaha take the easy route, would have loved to see the Kodi with more power...oh well.

Keep in mind less than 10 years ago the biggest quad you could get was the Grizz 600, which had less power and weighed more than the new Grizz 550...and ppl thought that quad was a beast!

Glad to see them add black as a colour option, not extra charge either, at least it mixes up the same old red, green, blue.

As far as I'm concerned Yamaha dropped the ball when they failed to update the Shee and then dropped all there 2 strokes.Buy used why in the hell would ya want a 8100 dollar raptor when ya could buy a used 06-07 save thousands an for a few hundred put a digital speedo on it an still save money?
