The black smoke usually comes from too much fuel.My wife has an 05 bruin that is completely stock and starts easy but needs full choke for a few minutes to run even on warm days. Not much help, but just what I've seen from a Bruin.

does it have a choke? is the choke operating correctly? my 99 Yam Big Bear 359 has a fresh rebuilt carb on it and after i choke it to start it, it will smoke like a train if i dont unchoke it immediately.
