Default Few warrior questions

Okay got some questions already - this is on my 96 warrior

I was messing around with the quad I just bought - it has a K&N drop in air filter, but it sits in their loose. Not 100% sure, but it don't appear to sit in the air intake tube very well, though its hard to tell. With the air filter cover on does that push a drop in style filter up to seat better? I see on the cover it has a section that looks to do this - course my cover has no bolts (just found that out).

#2 - any one know the size bolts for the air filter cover, and the 4 bolts for the gas tank (some reason missing those too)

#3 - it starts and idles fine, but I noticed at different speed intervals it seems to loose fuel, or eithe is getting too much and bogs down, sometimes stalls. Now looking at the carb it looks fairly new - haven't gotten the model number of it yet (working on that today). Also looking at the spark plug - didn't take it out yet, just visual, it looks fairly new (though previous owner said he didn't change it). Anyone know what the gap is suppose to be?

Think that is it for now - lol, first day off since buying the quad so finally get a chance to play around a bit. thanks.

Forgot to add this too - the throttle cable sticks once and awhile due to previous owner "creative engineering" when switching from a twist throttle to thumb throttle. I wonder if when it sticks its dumping too much gas in the carb when I am slowing down - hence it stalling out. I will have to get out and do dwon the block to see when it actually bogs down - cause now that I think of it, it is when I am letting off the gas.

the k&n will just sit in there. the lid closes down on it so it won't move. use the grease it came with on the end to help seal it up. if you don't have the grease, regular grease will work. I don't know which bolts for the tank you are talking about. the ones for the airbox cover, I will have to check mine tommorrow. I do know I got them at my local o'reillys auto. they are gold in color and for a ford. (thats probably not much help, lol). your carb should be BTM36SH. check out how many turns the air/fuel screw is out. factory is 2 turns out. as for the spark plug, its a NGK D8EA and gap is .024 to .028. as for your throttle sticking, check the cable carefully. mine never stuck but when I took the cover off my carb to put in new jets, the cable was frayed and as soon as I hit the gas it stuck wide open. thank god I wasn't riding it or had it running at the time. I'd make sure the carb is super clean, get a new plug and set the screw to factory and then see how it runs.

thanks for the info - appreciate it. Well I need a new throttle for sure - the previous owner cut the casing in the center to shorten it, and damaged the actually cable itself. Looks frayed - but I did order a new one - just waiting for it tom come in. Where can you see the carb model number at when looking at it? Can you see it with it sitting on the engine?

yes you can see it. look at the black cover on the side (the cover where the cable goes into it at). it should have the carb model number on it

I don't see the black cover anywhere.

Here's all the writing I found:

left side - it says mikuni corp
right side - Made in Japan and Not For Aircraft Use

Throttle cable goes into top of carb, and from what I can see nothing on top but the gas tank is in the way right now.

Okay back from vacation so at it again trying to get this machine to run smooth. there is no ID on the carb, and per the service manual pics I don't believe this is the original carb.

took some pics of all views - did take the gas tank off too, since I need to change out my throttle cable. I won, on ebay a stock cable with another thumb throttle, so I am hoping this setup works. It runs great, and as long as I don't hit higher rpms moves fine too, but as soon as I let the rpms go up close to the shift point it runs like crap, and will cut out as well.

So - any way to tell what size it is, or am I going to have to take it apart? Also any more suggestions on my running issue? The dealer is closed today - will be heading over there tomorrow for some advice.
