I have a kodiak 400 that need to have the rear seal fixed I received a quote for 1800.00 dollars to be fixed. Does any one know if this is to expensive? Should I look in to it more? They also said it takes about 10 hours to tear it apart is that true? Please help?

you mean one thousand eighteen dollars? your getting f-cked bigtime. the seal isnt anymore than 20 bucks at most, then the gear oil (would not hurt to drain and refill the axle since it has been leaking, it could have water or debris in there) is about 3 bucks a quart and the weight should be stamped on the case. my 99 big bear 4x4 is SAE 80-90 GL4 or GL5. your being quoted about 1700 dollars too much IMHO. it sounds like someone is trying to sell you an entire axle assembly.
