Default Rhino questions

My parents have a 660 Rhino. First year they were produced. '01 or '02 I don't really remember.

Up until a couple weeks ago we had no problems with the thing at all. I went out to their house and they put one of the electronic gauges in. About a week later the thing does not want to start.

Sometimes it will crank and crank and crank and not start. Other times it will fire right like it should. It idle's and runs fine. Its just suddenly is very hard to start.

Choking it results in flooding.
Live in Oklahoma. Weather right now ranges from 70 to 100.

Any ideas?

well I don't know what your problem is with it not wanting to start, but the first year Rhino were produced was 03, and they were 04 models

Did you try a new battery? The one in my 350 lasted a whole year. Did you try unhooking the new guage? Sounds like it could be a draw on the battery.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not replaced the battery. It doesn't seem to have any trouble turning it over. It will crank away fine.

Check for spark when cranking it over. It could be the battery has enough juice to spin the starter, but none left to fire the ignition.

I had a rhino 660. Two things come to mind.....the cdi box (especially if it is aftermarket) or the fuel pump (went through two of those).

Sounds like a bad CDI - try putting the stock one back in and see if that fixes the problem....if it does, I'd warranty that CDI, or get a new one. We only use Dynatek CDI's in our Rhinos....pretty much problem free.

Dynatek a good choice, great customer service, too! DO NOT buy black rhino cdi. Had nothing but problems with them, unreliable, and very poor customer service. They acted like it was my fault their POS didn't work!
