Default Warrior starting noise

Its been awhile since I posted here...nice to know the community is still together. I regress...

My 99' Warrior is running near perfect. Except for starting, when you have the throttle closed and then try starting it--no problems. However when you try starting it with some throttle (about 1/4 or greater) it starts making this horried
clunk-clunk-clunk noise. These noise doesn't persist when the bike is running, only when it is starting and has relatively any throttle.

I'm kind of stumped what would make that noise based on throttle position. If you don't give it any throttle, it starts perfectly...any kind of throttle and you're given a nasty surprise!

Any thoughts? Or suggestions for repair?

Sounds like the starter clutch is bad. There are a gazillion threads about it.
