I am thinking maybe a surge from the voltage regulator but it could have been a faulty unit.I am going to call ProCom monday afternoon.
ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY IDEAS like where a bad wire could be?I took the zip tie off the wires on the rear of the frame.

Check stator specs (dealer or clymer manual) stator could be source if out of specs, could be frying cdi?

Not always! Stator has pulse coil that sends current to cdi, also charging system (usually yellow wires that send ac current to reg/rectifier which changes ac to dc and sends to battery between 13.5-14.5 dc volts. If reistance checks on pulser ok and resistance on charging wires good and no shorts to ground this can possibly eliminate stator as source of problem. Elec diagnoising sometimes hard not being able to have HANDS on to check out! Also check kill switch housing for shorting to ground. If can disconnect ,Not sure on Yamaha, but polaris cdi has black wire to kill switch.

I wish this was a POLARIS
Thanks I will get the tester out and check the stator.
I have never had this much trouble on any other quad.
