Read through these than buy it.

A good 3 wheeler gets $1000 up here. For a grand it just has to run to be worth it.

The Yamaha 229cc Motor is bullet proof and has be around forever.

It s more likely the wheel Bearing, not a expensive or hard job. I just did a 660 Grizzly and the hardest part was getting the old bearing out and the new put in the hub because it was so corroded.
I already has the NEW bearing and the hub out so I brought both to a automotive garage down the street and he removed the old bearing and put the new bearing in the hub for $10 and it took 10 minutes.

On my 89 Big Bear 4x4 I got fed up fooling the front brakes so I just fixed the rear , these ATV are foot shifters with full time 4wd so in 1st gear the engine compression will crawl you down a mountain goat trail without using a brake. Heat and wd 40 than grease should free up the brakes leavers.

im so glad my 99 Big Bear 4x4 has front disc brakes. it stops on a dime. the problem with the drum breaks is with the older quads like mine and cchucky51's is that the drum seal dry rots and lets water and mud etc get inside the drum. i had to replace mine on the rear brake. im kinda pissed at yamaha for not doing that as i paid them 550 bucks to do what it needed. but hey, i saved some cash. ordered the seal off the internet for 35 bucks and about an hour to get the old one off its replaced and water tight once again. the problem i had was it was all dried out and corroded and i had to literally dig the old one off with a screwdriver. once the hub was cleaned and lubed, the new seal tapped right on.

my point in that rambling is check your drum seal. you will see it when you remove the drum. it is supposed be soft to the touch and flexible. if it isnt, get it replaced asap. if you dont, as soon as you sink the front end in water or mud, all this work getting the brakes to work will be for nothing. they will be right back in the same condition with all those contaminants inside the hub.

just take your time and remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

How to change a wheel Bearing. OR THIS http://www.mudbog.net/forum/a1.php

To get the hub off spindle remove the large hub bolt with cotter pin,and the A arms Connections and tie rod connections the bottom shock bold removed may help things along.

Thats where I left off and just brought the rest to a garage with the proper torches and press.
