Default 2005 raptor run problem w/backfire

Could use a little guidance on the ol Craptor of mine. Ive been watching some postings and it seems you are the people to ask. Heres the scoop;
I have a 2005 660 Craptor that is bone-stock. Upon getting this thing and its inherited run problem, I had misdiagnosed it for having flaky carb problems which seems alot of people do. I went through the valve adjustments more than once and even swapped the carb out. While I was in the process of attempting to clear the run problem I had a guy post me telling me to disconnect the parking brake switch. No doubt this cleared a majority of my problem up. SO here is where I stand now;
I still had the bike running on a lean condition so I dropped the needle settings down to the lowest adjustment possible but now instead of the machine breaking up on idle to 1/4 throttle, now it does it on 3/4 gooses, then boggs, followed by a huge backfire out the exaust pipe. It starts and stands at an idle perfectly. I have been reading how people are doing both by-pass limiter procedures for the parking brake and the reverse. I have only done the parking brake one and cant see how the reverse would affect me at the moment.
The machine doesnt have alot of time on it for the problems I have been experienceing. Actually I had almost every honda 3 wheeler under the sun growing up and I never had these problems, then again the safety technology wasn't there back then either. When I re-built these carbs I went by guidelines found quoted from a manual, even with the air idle mix of 3 turns out from bottom on left side and 2 for the right and the thing is still flaky. I have seen postings as to guys swapping out CDI's to re-jetting to clear similar issues. I am confused and asking what is your advice on as to what I should do to clear up this issue? Once again everything is bone stock, and have covered most simple basics from spark plugs to valve adjustments.
Thanks,
Matt

PS if you do a search under my username on here of "n2rer" you will see mu original post which isnt much differnet that this and the tech info I had gotten from a resident raptor guru under the name of "sixsixt". Thanks for the input.

im dont have a whole lot of knowledge on the 660s but i know that if the reverse sensor is bad that will make it run very strange, u said u disconnected the parking brake wire so that solves that prob but as much as i can tell u id try to unplug the reverse sensor wire too. im a big honda fan too, started out riding hondas and recently picked up an 86 or 87 honda atc250sx that somebody tried making it into a 4wheeler and its a super wiring nightmare and havent had time to mess with but i know what ya mean. bad sensors like creating backfire, i know a park break sensor will do that and it might be worth it to try the same for the reverse. some1 here might have more mech skill on the 660 than me 2 help tho.

N2rer well i have to admit you are far better at carbs that i am. but i have a 660 too and 91warrior357 is correct. i had a problem with my reverse sensor in the middle of the mountians after running through a small creek. it is on the left side near the foot peg. mine had dirt and water in it and it made my bike backfire and run like crap. it is just a electricl connection so pull the electrical boot off and clean out anything in there and reapply with a good connection and hopefully it will help ya, thank god it did for me. hope this helps ya. good luck
