Hi in 2005 i got a z250,mistake .now i want a blaster seeing i can get aa new one for cheap, we ride really fast trails and very technical and get chased by the cops every now and then .Is the blaster worth it take into account trails,petrol,reliability,low down power and more i know its faster and way more fun to ride.

 

best thing i could tell you is to test ride one. there fun little bikes and theyll have a little more top end power but the low end on your bike will most likely be better. as for going through technical trails i think both bikes will perform around the same.

 

Blasters are fun little quads, but don't dump too much money into one, the resale value is horrible (in my area anyway). Probably the worst thing about them is their suspension sucks, and the brakes are terrible on the pre- '03 Blasters. Plus don't forget you have to add oil in the pre-mix bottle to mix with the fuel or the engine will blow up.

sorry for the late reply . my opinion would be that its worth it . these blasters have been around since the late 80s for a reason. there is so much you can do to them . they are super light and pretty fast stock. like the other post says pre 03 brakes stink. and resale isnt so great because there are so many of them. i ride mine in NH and the trails there range from open to very technical. my blaster handle them great. as for low end power you cant beat a 4 stroke but with the right gearing you can get close. and for getting away from cops you 'll have plenty of top end. the only thing i dont like is the low clearance on the swingarm so i avoid as many rocks as i can besides thats what skid plates are for . i just put a vitos 240 kit in mine and its a night and day difference . major mid and top end . i havent had many breakdowns on mine because i maintain it very well . i can ride it hard for 2-3 hours on 1 tank. good luck

 

we had both the z250 and 3 blasters, on a tight trail or on the track the z could not keep up. On the mantenance side the four stroke shines. There are pros and cons on both. Just remember though on out running the cops, our radios are a lot faster than any quad could ever be.

Ok you maybe have me there, never been to SA. Maybe it is more so that they just don't want to use them? We love a good cat and mouse chace in WI.
