Well, that's a deep question! Here's my two cents.

I would only try to adapt a bike motor if (1) -it's free, all ready have it, or cost little and your trying to save money.
(2) - It's not a big motor, the problem is the frame, susp.., and everything on a blaster isn't made for this. And if you do put a different motor in it, it's highly likely your be rigging it to run before, during and after each ride to keep it running.
(3) - if the blow blaster motor is only the top end. Then your only talking about $150 bucks or so for a Wisco Piston, Gasket Set, Bore Job along w/ the standard Pin, Clips and Bearing. And while jug is off, do a porting job to add alittle more hp's. Air cooled 2-strokes are an easy engine to rebuild. Good Luck.

I did the same thing.I bought a 1990 blaster for 500 bucks needed a top end though. It wouldn't have been that great of deal except the plastic was in very good shape.had a BRAND new carb on it.never been ran with the carb, new brake pads, axle bearings and carrier and some other stuff.I had it bored a small as possible for the scrathes..025 over.Got a pro-x piston rings and circlip and low-mid porting and and a new uni filter for $170.00.It runs great but now it needs swingarm bearings.
