I know when you push the button your quad can reverse more smoothly. Does it make much of a difference? I have never had problems reversing in or out of something without the override. Just wandering if I was missing some mechanical benefit or otherwise.

I think it's only there to slow one down so you don't crash into stuff while backing up.

it overides the rev limiter. While in reverse the limiter wont let you go but so fast or reach a certain RPM unless you "override" it. Hope this helps.

If you have never had to use the over ride when backing up you must not get into very ruff stuff. I have to use mine all the time up here in the mountains. I love that little button.

They actually don't have one standard on the wolvy. People are installing them. I can go pretty fast without the limiter. I guess the limiter would just slow it down so that I don't over rev in reverse? So if you don't have one you should just take it easy using the reverse?

You won't over rev in reverse. More what it is used for is like this: You're on a narrow trail and the only place to back up is up an incline or over several large rocks. When you hit the rocks or have to pull up the incline the engine will strain harder than when on flat ground which forces the rpm's higher. Once the rpm's hit the limiter the engine starts cutting out so you won't have the power to get over that obstacle. That's when the over ride button comes into play. Over ride the limiter so you have the power to back up. It's totally worth it. I have been on trails so steep that the ATV would not back up without the over ride. It has more to do with having the power you need instead of speed.

On top of a mountain there may not be a forward option. Some day being able to go backwards in 4X4 without the rev limiter may save your hide...just speaking from experience.
