I have never raced but i want to bad but i love 700s but my track doesnt race 700s so do u think i should get a 700 and not race or 450 and do race. I would have to get a used 450 so i could not get the mxr but i could get an ltr or another brand. But my dad says that a 700 raptor could kill a yfz 450 or any 450 so what do u think. I like both of them equaly so plese help me convince him.

If you mean dragracing, the the 700 will be fine, but if you're talking about TT or motocross, the 450 would be better. The suspension is set up more for the jumps and the gearing is set up more for motocross/TT on the 450. The 700 gearing is spread out more and takes longer to wind out than the 450. Plus the 700 is a little bigger and heavier. I would go with the 450. There's a reason they don't have a 700 class.

Your dad is correct esp when modded no 450 will hang with the 700!</end quote></div>
here where we ride most stock 450's esp. the 450r takes the 700r. its like there guttless unless they have a pipe and filter to open them up. there is a 700r dual pipes k&n and an efi chip that spanks many people everything. there a nice pipe when u let em breathe

Racing is EXPENSIVE! That is, if you want to be competitive. And if you don't just enter open comp events for fun. the 700 I'm sure can be raced there. For a bike that is going to see mostly recreational use, go with the 700. For a dedicated race bike. 450 all the way.

the new 450's have fuel injection and wider stance. If you are considering racing go 450, if you are just recreational riding its very close, they both have similar power, 450 is a more complex race motor and as such is a little less reliable. I struggled with the same decision a year ago, after reading all the threads in which 450 owners said buy 450, and 700 owners said buy 700, I decided on the 450SE because I liked the color better. Go figure. Both are superb machines, both are incredibly fast. If you are going to race 450 is the only way to go, if not... remember there is no replacement for displacement.
