Putting a 686 kit in my raptor had the machine work done got it all together and go to fire it up and it is sucking water into the cylinder. could this be a head gasket problem. Had the 686 kit in the bike before but took my head off to have ported and while in there went ahead and bought new piston rings and that way new on up. But now she is together and water into cylinder never came across this before so any help greatly apreciated. D

It could definately be a head gasket problem. You better hope it's that and not a warped/cracked head.

I have a problem with my raptor also I just put in a hot rod crank , port and polished head , titanium valves harder spings , and a hotcam stage 2 . Me and my boy put it all together and it ran pretty good so I drove it to my house. The next day I filled it up with antifreeze getting ready to try it out again ,and when I was backing out I heard a big knock when I stalled it in reverse. I tried to start it but it was acting like the battery was dead straining to make a full revolution. I took off the litttle valve cover in the back I automaticly knew the cam was fine because the valves were still opening and closing. I've already broke a hotcam before because of my old stock crank it was lightly welded because the threads were striped and it keep backing off the driftway key before. So I got a hotrod crank and put new ringes on my stock piston.

Sounds like they may went to agressive on the porting and it is leaking into the valve from the water jacket under the intake runners.

Or the gaske t is bad and the head is warped?? It is pretty hard to get a leaky gasket that will let coolant into the cylinder but not leak out on the head where you can see it, the water ports are way on the out side.

I went through this same issue years ago. I forget what my exact process was on fixing the problem. I am thinking at the time Cometic (I think) made a gasket for the 686 Raptors that were originally 660's. That and probably a 6 or so of brew if I know me. If you would do some research on my older posting you may find the answer. Keep us posted.

i rebuilt my motor a few year's back, from what i remember there are two diff legth bolt's that hold the jug to the block, if you have them backward's you may have pulled the thread's when you started the motor. make sure you torque everybolt in the assembly. the base gask and the head gskt are very sensative to over tightening.. i have over 40 hr's on my setup and love it.. look into the fcr35's it will make a big diff with all the work you have done to the bike. hope this help's..

I'm asking if anyone else had the same problem that I'm having right now my typeing was terrible I havent used a keyboard in a while.

I'll explain myself again I just had my entire engine rebuilt because of a bad
crank and a damaged flywheel. I replaced my crank because the bolt threads on the end of the crank were striped causing the flywheel to back off of the driftway key.

So I put in a hot rod crank and a new flywheel in the bottom end of the motor.
I already had my cylinder rehoned and I put new rings on my piston . My head is
ported & polished and it also has titanium valves harder springs and a stage 2 hotcam.

My problem now is it sounds like it's strugling to make a full revolution ( a full crank over) almost as if the battery is dead. I torqued everything down to specs
and everything has been looked over for a second opinion. When it stalled I put my hand over the exhaust and it felt like it was sucking in air. So I pulled the valve cap off and I automatically knew that my cam wasn't broken because the valves were still opening and closeing. I took the head off again everything was fine except it was a little bit worn down were the end of the cam sits and mets with the cam sproket. Can anyone tell me whats going on?
