Rear differential seal leaking on '04 Kodiak 450
Does anyone have any tips for changing the seal in the rear differential of a Kodiak 450. Mine is about to turn 5 years, and so far not the first problem. I noticed the other day when I put on my new ITP Mud Lite XLs that the seal in the rear differential was leaking. I changed the fluid and ran it some today, but now it is starting to drip bad. It almost looks as if the seal has come out of the differential a bit. Anyway it is leaking bad and I didnt know if this was something I could takle with the right know how, or if I should take it to the dealership and let them charge me and arm and leg? Any websites with the parts breakdown would be of great help also.

It is more of a time consuming job than a difficult one...
There are plenty of sites for parts....
two I use...
Bike Bandit
Cycleparts nation <--- I only use this site for my Yamaha parts if I am ordering Ski-doo snowmobile parts at the same time...
As far as how to do it.. well luckily for you.. I have the link to the Factory Yamaha Manual!
http://www.savefile.com/files/74511
The link for the manual works but sometimes you just need to work it a bit...
1. Click the link in the Message
2. Scroll down to the Section in the BLUE Box that says "05-06 Kodiak 450" and Click "DOWNLOAD FILE"
3. Your download SHOULD start...
IF NOT
4. Scroll down to the Bottom.... where you will see
" Your download should begin shortly.
If it does not, try Download file now "
That should do the trick :beer
