Just bought a 1986 Warrior

Hey im sure yall have all heard this before but I just purchased a stock 1986 Yamaha Warrior 350 with electric start in almost mint condition for 500 dollars. It runs great has barely in scratches original stickers and paint. I already tightened the chain but i need to adjust the rear shock. It has about 1 inch left to tighten the preload and i dont know how much of a difference it will make considering im a 265lb college football player. Right now when i sit on it it freakin sinks. Do I need a new shock? and i was wondering about upgrades like exhaust maybe anything not to expensive?? Any advice is welcome. And it does boogy pretty good!

first, you do not need to mix the fuel. warriors are 4 strokes, you only mix for a 2 stroke! if you accidentally mixed it you will not blow it up, but it will smoke and run horrible.
second, you might need to get a new shock, look on ebay for a used banshee shock or a '01 raptor 660 rear shock, they are both a good upgrade for the money. but for $500 bucks it sounds like you got a decent deal if it is as nice as you say!

Removing the air lid allows more air to the motor but at the expense of also possibly allowing water in. Also you MUST figure out a way to keep the filter in place, as on that machine the lid holds the filter in place. And for the suspension and your weight...tighten up the spring until you get the sag you need. And do-not put air in the shock reserve...that is for nitrogen and if your shock is still in good shape you will ruin it.

yea just get something to lift the bike into the air to where no weight is on the back tires, so maybe a bucket under the engine and turn it with big pliers or whatever until its on the setting you like, removing the lid will make the bike sound a lil more throaty but will also require you to rejet your carb, on mine i cant use an airbox or it will run horrible. i have 2 diff lids 1 is a stock lid and the other has 3 big 1 1/2 holes cut into it. depending on where i ride i either use no lid or the cut lid. as for upgrades get a k&n filter and an HMF pipe which runs around a little over $200 and there good power gaining pipes for the money.

Ok its got a K&N air intake on it already and i tried to adjust the shock but couldnt. I didnt have it lifted off the ground though i guess that would be worth a try. What can i adjust it with since i dont have the special tool?
