Default Yamaha Blaster Questions

I know someone with a Blaster and that is what he recommended to me. Would it be a good beginner ATV for trail riding and messing around with? I am looking on craigslist for a nice used one. I don't want or need the fastest quad out there just something fun, durable, and reliable. If you could help me out I'd appreciate it.

yea there awesome beginner bikes, very reliable, light weight, easy to work on zippy little fun bikes and parts are cheap and easy to get. as long as you know how to use a 6-speed clutch your fine. id recommend a blaster for a starter bike also

+1 on the blaster!Very fun,reliable and very easy to work on and ride and can beat most new 250 4 strokes.They can also be found relatively cheap most for under 2 grand!

Thanks for the replies guys. I am looking for used ones like I said, there are some pretty nice Blasters for around $1500.

1500 would get u a nice blaster, but i recomend you get one that has NO motor work done to it. if it has a big bore kit then it loses all of its reliability. you cant keep a piston in them big bore blasters, they are always seizing. but thats just my 2 cents...

Only down side is the blaster is very small. If your too tall or large it won't be comfortable.

Errr.... That's pushing it man. I think other will agree with me when I say that it's a bit small for 6ft - 180lbs.

They are very, very small framed. 300EX or 400ex maybe better fit. If patient you can prob find good deal on a 400ex. 300ex won't be much different than blaster price wise.

Koopa's right, but I have seen people your size ride a blaster and not seem to mind. Ride one yourself and see how it fits. I'm with the reaper....avoid any with motor work done to them. Also, beware of any that removed the oil injection and mixed the fuel. If the ratio was not just right the motor will not last long. Also, closely inspect the frame for cracks, especially if it was raced or a large person such as yourself has ridden it. My son raced a blaster a few years ago and it would haul a#*! You can ride a wheelie for miles on them, too! They are a fun machine, just realize the suspension is weak so if you find one that has upgraded suspension then that is a real plus and well worth the extra money! Good luck!

Default Yamaha Blaster Questions

I must agree with Koopa and firehog. I am 6'4" 240 and my wife's Blaster is fun and all but I cannot turn right without gassing it! I suggest taking someone's for a spin. You may try a Z400 early model or 450 early model for the money it will be a better fit (more comfort).
