Have been smelling antifreeze lately on the trails, dealer checked and advised I needed a new water pump. No warranty left (550kms) but Yamaha covered it. Picking up today with my new plow.

 

I also have a 2000 kodiac and was noticing my anti-freeze overflow tank empty. Turned out to be the mechanical seal in the water pump. I found the missing anti-freeze in the engine oil. thankfully I cought it before engine damage occured. Yamaha fixed it I just hope it doesn't happen again.

 

My waterpump went out early on as well. And from my understanding this is a problem with the 2000 models which has been corrected with the 2001 models. I just hope that when mine was replaced, it was replaced with 2001 parts.

 

Plow works great. Opted for the winch lift, since I had a winch to start with. It can move some snow!

 

Mine went out twice, first time dealer just changed the seals. Second time made them change out the whole waterpump. It has yet to fell, but It's only been about 3 weeks since I got it back. Just watch for the problem.

 

My Y2K Kodiak starts a slow drip when running..and it figures, it's out of warranty!!

Mine is out of warranty and just went out for the SECOND time in 8 months. Needless to say, I'm not a happy camper right now. And I don't care if the quad is no longer under warranty, dealership will have to pay for this as far as I'm concerned.
