Kodiak/Wolverine Prices
#2
i paid 5400 for my 2000kodiak(4x4) but i got blade with mine. after paying $69(promo deal) plus installation, plus taxes, title and all that other stuff it was a shade under 6000. i haven't had any problems with mine. it's very nice to have the option of either 2 or 4 wheel drive which the wolverine does not offer. i'm sure the wolverine is a great machine but i have never ridden one. i can tell you that the kodiak is awesome.

I have a Wolverine, though I bought iti in Canada, so telling you th eprice is not going to help you much. I can tell you that it was about $700 cheaper than a Kodiak.
As for the major problems, there are none really. It's a little hard on brake pads, and it's geared a bit high for really heavy work, though it can still do it. It's just not the best choice if you're going to be using it mostly for work.
If you like having lots of frills, don't go with a Wolverine either. It doesn't have a speedo, or gas guage, or trip meter, or anything like that, and it offers very little protection from mud.
But the way I look at it is, there's alot less stuff to break off, and almost nothing can go wrong. The full time 4wd is VERY reliable; no electric servo motors to let you down. I've rolled mine a few times and only bent fender supports.
I drive pretty hard, and I know if I had a Honda with a digital dash, or a Polaris with the pod on the handle bars, the quad would look like junk now. But the Wolverine is tough as nails, and will easily run with 500's. If you want a quad for fun, you can't go wrong.

I paid $5599 for a 2001 Kodiak 4x4 before tax. Check www.yamahadiscountprices.com for great prices from a dealer in Mississippi too. An invoice report on the 2001 Kodiak 4x4 said the dealer pays $5243 incl. freight to dealership, this doesn't include dealer assembly charges.
