Yamaha Big Bear 400 2007 top end speed to slow
#1
I was wondering if any body knows how much top end speed I would gain on my 2007 big bear 400 if I went form 25'' tires to 27'' tires. Also since the big bear is so low geared, that by going with the larger tires does any body have problems with not having enough low end power. Iam looking at putting on kenda mud tires with 1 1/4 tread depth compared to my factory mud lites with 3/4'' tread depth.

Theoretically, you should gain top speed with larger tires since they roll further with each revolution, but if you don't have enough power, you won't be able to pull the same RPMs as with the lighter 25" tires, thus losing top speed. My '02 had no problems turning 27" Mud Bugs & 26" Mudlites, but don't do it for the speed, do it for the clearance and traction. I loved my Big Bear...bulletproof...but not geared for speed!
