No Spark on my 2000 Yamaha Wolverine

Hello Folks..
Have a 2000 Yamaha Wolverine, came back from a trip North and the machine sat for a few months. Went to start it up, turns over no problem but no spark.
Put in a new plug turned it over and nothing. I have an old coil from a warrior sitting around , hooked it up and no spark.
Can you folks think of anything else that may contribute to no spark?.
What should I check next?. Should I pull off the pull start and check the magneto for rust?. How do you check the pickup and stator on this machine to determine if they are the issue.
Thanks in advance, this issue has been killing me for months.
