Default Big Bear Clutch Problems??

My husband is about ready to get rid of our Yamaha Big Bear. He probably rode it once or twice last year and since we have had it for about 4 years now it hasn't been ridden more than 15 hours total. He got it out of the shed today since he is going to trade it in and noticed that the clutch isn't working right. He can put it in reverse but once he tries to move the clutch to neutral and then 1st it won't move. When he turns it off and tinkers with it a little bit he can get it to neutral with his hand after a minute. Could our clutch be going out even though it has barely been ridden? The people that had it before us didn't ride it much at all. It is a 2001 and has probably 25 hours total. How can we fix it? Thanks!

Default Big Bear Clutch Problems??

that is a pain in the *** of that transmission. mine does the same thing, and has done it for 10 years. sometimes i have to rock it back and forward to get it to release and sometimes it will click right in to neutral and in to first. sometimes i have to reach down and grab it with my hand.

changing the oil with yamalube oil might help too. the wet clutch additives in the oil in the bike might have broken down and that is not good for any wet clutch atv. remember, the oil in that atv must be JASCO approved. regular motor oil will make the clutch slip and eventually burn up.
