Banshee Knocking a Lot
#11
yea what fastrthnu was telling you is what youll have to do to get rid of your clutch biting prob, i cant really explain it much better, but if i were you whenever u get new gearbox oil and coolant to try and do this, because ull have to do it anyway but u just pull your clutch side cover off and youll see your basket then follow his instructions, the clutch perch is your clutch lever assembly, the actuator arm is the litte arm that hangs out of the case, im sure when you got it dissasembled youll understand better, also your chain very well could be making this noise, is it more or a clanking noise? mf gfs quad was doing this also and i almost took the tranny out because i overlooked it being the chain, it was hitting a piece of metal on the swingarm that was supposd to have a roller on it, you could clearly see where it was rubbing on it, and it was a very intermitent noise, if i were you id check and make sure you chain isnt rubbing anywhere, and also readjust it with a buddy sitting on it.

Ya isn't a constant sound, I do think it's from the chain being so loose it slips off the sprocket and the loud thunk it when it falls back into place. Measured the play, like 3.8-4 in. Service manual I DLed says that it should be .6 inches and at a max 1.5 inches. So I'm not riding until tomorrow when I will have the tools available to take care of that.

You may be better suited to go ahead and replace sprockets and get a new chain if that one is old, Less than $100 and is a great thing to do every few years, because as sprockets wear, they wear chains out quicker, make noises, chains jump teeth, etc etc. And bad chains will eat up new sprockets, too; so you should always replace them all at once. (unless you are just changing front sprockets for gearing reasons, etc)
