Banshee Knocking a Lot
#1
My 05' Banshee has been knocking a lot. It feels like it's from low on the rear end. This happens very often, almost always when the rear wheels slip or when accelerating rapidly, not very often at high speeds, nor in a particular gear. I thought it could be slack in the chain, but it have almost no play, just barely loose. Could it be the clutch which has lots of play before it bites? Another bit of info is that the machine shifts harshly from neutral to first or neutral to second. I really know nothing about this machine, and I do not want to have to bring it into the dealer to pay their fines.
In addition, on occasion, when launching from neutral to first, the machine does something I find very weird. When I release the clutch, it instantly starts bogging whenever the throttle is hit, and doesn't move or do anything. I shut down the engine, put it in neutral, roll it a bit, and start it back up, and it goes away. I do not want to ride this machine any longer until I get this sorted out, because I worry it could be very harmful to the quad...
If anyone can help me out here I'd be very grateful. Also, if this is a difficult fix I will have to bring it in, but I'd like to know what parts will most likely need to be replaced.
Sorry to drag everyone on, but I did and warrior357 said and joined a site called bansheehq.com. They know a lot, and could anyone simplify the following instructions into more basic terms? http://www.bansheehq.com/forum...&hl=clutch+adjustment

**EDIT**
I thought it would be the rear axle bearings, but when I got the rear wheels jacked up, I couldn't feel any play at all with the axle or bearings. The wheels spun perfectly well but I am still a little interested in the chain, I mean idk if it could be the cause, but it constantly ticks and makes sound... I also thought it might be the rear shock going back up rapidly, but when I stood on the wheelie bar and ripped it and pushed down, and the shock came up, the sound only came sometimes, and it was def. lower than the shock.

Ok, also, could the chain cause this knocking scram?
EDIT
If I wiggle it up and down with someone on it it has like 3 inches of play, from the lowest I can pull it down to the highest I can pull it up.

Also you've been complaining about clutch biting and bogging could you give more detail? these 2 strokes are very boggy on the low end and really don't have alot of torque, heck your 250 probably has more lowend.

Sprockets look good to me. Nah it's not the weak boggy low end, and the knocking comes right in the powerband in 1st and 2nd gear only on a hard surface where the wheels don't spin easily.

Not on a Banshee I don't. Its probably the same as my Warrior though, in which you loosen to the two bolts/nuts on the carrier and slide it forward or backward to adjust tension and then tighten down the two rear adjusters evenly and then tightening the carrier bolts up again. Its alot easier than it sounds, just get a service manual
