Default RAPTOR 700 HMF slip on help

My wonderful wife just bought me a HMF slip on for my 2008 Raptor 700. I had no problem installing it, however I have heard mixed thoughts on if a EFI optimizer is required with the slip on. I have heard many say that it is needed and I have heard many say not to waste your money. I have no other mods to the quad other than the slip on. Can anyone shed some light on my situation?

Welcome to the forums man. If i were you I'd get rid of that crap filter design by Yamaha and go for a pro-flo kit. Easier to clean and change and also better filtering while increasing air flow.

Then, yes, I'd get the power commander. I don't know anyone with a piped 700 who don't have one. I'd think you should get one with just the slip on. After all if you can't feed more fuel than the pipe don't help.

My mechanic always says you don't need more fuel unless you add more air. So technically, you don't NEED a programmer unless you get a high flow air filter or do some airbox mods, but you won't gain much from the HMF except noise unless you do get a programmer.

There is no 02 sensors on the bike so if you put a exhaust on it without a programmer you will lean out the fuel mixture causing engine damage.

I would reccomend the PCIII!

you have to get a pc111 like the other guy says any mods will lean the bike out. The slip on flows better than stock and you lose some back pressure. As far as tuners I would go with the power commander, their is so many more things you can do with it compared to other brands.
