Default 06 Kodiak Charging System

The charging system on my 2006 kodiak is partially working. When it idles, my neutral light blinks with the engine as it fires. This ATV has not been abused but it does have a lot of dirt road miles on it (8000+). The engine will even sputter if I run the RPM's up do to the fact that it does not have enough juice to even create enough spark to run. I have used a volt meter to test it while running with the battery disconnected and it is putting out about 1.5 volts. The voltage does not go up if I rev the engine.

I took the case off the motor to take a look at the stator because I noticed it was leaking oil from the bottom on the stator case cover. Everything looks fine, no damages or anything obvious. The only thing I found odd was the fact that the stator was inside of the crank case with the oil but from what I seen it was not designed to be away from the oil.

Anyone have any ideas? I would hate to purchase a new stator at 180 bucks and it be something else.

Thanks, this is my first post and I am new here!
