Default 2006 Grizzly Diff Lock works - 4 wheel doesn't

I was plowing the other day and noticed that the front wheels were not engaged. 4X4 was selected and showed on the screen. I tried Diff Lock and it worked fine. I can hear the servo motor motor working when 4X4 is selected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that when in 4x4 the rear wheels were slipping and the front wheels were not turning? And when you put it in diff lock then the front wheels turned while the rear wheels slipped? Also did you turn it on and off to see if it worked the same each time?

Yes, in 4X4 the rear wheels spin and neither front will spin. In diff lock, all four wheels grab and there is no slip. I can tell by the tight steering. I've turned on and off several times. I can hear the servo motor working when I cycle the 4X4 button.

I wouldn't say that just because you can hear the servo it means that it engaged. My Kodiak makes the noise when I press the button but it often takes a little before it actually engages or disengages. Once it shows on the screen, I would assume that it was engaged. When all four "grab" it can be harder to tell what is happening. It would look the same as one wheel grabbing and the other going along for the ride. It is better if one is spinning on ice or mud while the other does not move. To be sure, I would suggest you lift it in the air or put it on ice and anchor the quad to really check what it is doing. In 4x4 you should get one front wheel turning if you were on ice. In diff lock you should get both front wheels turning together. If the quad is anchored and both front wheels are spinning and slipping you are in diff lock for sure. I would be curious to know if you are getting true diff lock or just 4x4 when you press the diff lock button. I don't know if it is even possible for it to get power to the front end in diff lock, when it is not working in 4x4 mode. The diff lock is separate from transferring power to the front drive shaft.

When in the air and in 4X4 mode, neither front wheel spins. When in the air and in diff lock, all 4 wheels spin. I agree with you, I don't understand how diff lock can work if 4X4 doesn't.

Were you able to see if the front drive shaft was turning while in the air?

When it is in diff lock while in the air can you stop one wheel? It may not actually be driving both front wheels - the other may just be getting some residual transfer from the one that is actually driving.

Turns out the lower CV joint on the right side was in pieces. Thank you to everyone for the suggestions.
