Need help with yamaha moto 4 80
#1
Hello,i just bought my son a 1988 yamaha moto 4 80cc.I was wondering if anyone knew if the vent line from the gas cap gets hooked to the carb? I have a hose that comes off the left side of the carb and i dont know where it goes.Im thinking its a vent hose? When i hook it up to the gas cap it runs for awhile then stalls. It wont start again unless i disconnect the hose from the gas cap.I think the vent in the cap itself might be bad.

ok....the vent hose comeing out of the gas cap just hangs, or tucks in by the handelbars. it should vent the tank. if it wont start with the cap on then its vapor locking the tank. as for the carb vent hoses idk off hand, but if nothin els keep them tucked someplace so dirt, ect. wont get in. you may be able to poke a hole in the diaphram of the vent cap so it can breath.

Many carbs have vent hoses built on them that connect to nothing. My Warrior carb has a vent hose and a float bowl overflow hose that both just run out of the carb to nothing.

My 03 Wolverine had that same hose on the side of the carb,It's just a vent/vacum line..
