2strokeDiehard, Can you tell me what happened to your tranny? The last to times out my tranny would stay in the reverse mode. I could still shift normal, but if I double tapped first gear it would continue to reverse. Even when I brought the machine into a heated garage it still stayed frozen. Just curious if you or anyone else having same problem.

After shifting from reverse into first. If the gear wasn't locked in it would go into reverse again without the use of the R. ****.

Xtreme, when mine faded, I was using Yamalube R 10w50 semi-synthetic. I have changed to Maxima 15w50 "EXTRA" full synthetic ($10 per quart). I have'nt abused the clutch as much since "the fading incident" at one time, but if it does fade now, it's definately not oil related.

EricsRaptor, Yes it would stay in reverse. The reverse cable is not frozen. It moves freeley. Also, the linkage coming though the engine block is moving back and fourth freeley( about a half inch of movement. at first I thought it was frozen after riding in 15 degree weather. However after sitting in a heated garage two days later it was still locked up.

I have been using silkolene 10w-40 atv oil semi synthetic. I think the clutch is just weak (springs) I too ordered some heavier springs.

i know what the problem with the clutch is. my banshee did the same thing. it is not the springs. it is the yamaha rubber cushion design they have on there clutches. i was hoping after now going to a raptor that it wouldnt have the same problem but it does. the only way to fix this is by rplacing the clutch with an aftermerket clutch. it can be still run with the stock springs to keep the pull easier. Will be doing the same to my raptor as soon as i find someone who makes one for the raptor preferabley barrnet.

MTECATE4G, are you talking about the rubber rings that attach to the clutch plates or the rubber cushions around the rivits in the clutch basket?

It is from the rubber cushions on the clutch plates not the clutch basket. after you get rid of that stock clutch set up fading never happens again.

I've had no problem with fading after I went with a Frankinstein'ed Barnett clutch.

It was early on and there wasn't a Barnett clutch for it. My dealer used a Barnett from a Banshee and had to get another half-plate from another Barnett kit. We used the Barnett springs as well. There are only 5 springs instead of 6 as found on the Banshee, so the pull is still very mild.
