Hey, I just got a used stock '99 Banshee, and I was wondering what would be some really good mods, besides new pipes and silencers for my stock banshee. Preferably under 1,000 bucks. Thanks

Up the compression by getting the head shaved. That would be the quads head and not your mellon

I have a 99 Banshee too and i have the complete Toomey T-5 pipes and silencers on it, pro design air box with K@N filters and i am running 280 jets.It is way stronger than stock. You could also get the head shaved about 0.40 or the pro design cool head is pretty nice.Get used to that then it is time to think about a stroker engine, but the afore mentioned mods will make you very happy and wont cost more than $1000

I have pro circuit pipes($450 - $500 new) and a graydon proline single carb set-up(~$450 new) on mine with a 38mm kehein carb. Air box removed with a Uni pod filter. It rips! Next is the pro design cool head. I buy alot of my stuff off eBay, so far I have less than $500 into upgrades on mine. You can get some killer deals, but, you can also get burned! Buyer Beware!!!

Notice how no one said "boost bottle" or "reed spacers". Can you can waste of money???

Std Boyesens, 0.040" off the head, 4 degree advance key from Vito's, foam pro flow w/o the air box lid, 320 main (sea level/dunes). Add these things to pipes and you'll be happy.

Here's a few ways to waste your money while making you're quad slower (all assuming stock porting). Bigger carbs (anything above 26mm won't add much at all on top end - wait till you're ported), 19cc or less domes (depends on elevation, but for sea level, 20cc is ideal and is what you get by shaving 40 thou off the stock head, and no, it doesn't overheat), boost bottles (fine for a bottom end motor, which the banshee is not), reed spacers (more crankcase volume = lower pressure during transfer - not good for peak power), so called "jet kits" - what a rip off (anyone can buy the right jets to get their motor running correctly, there is no "super jet" that makes life beautiful), "power reeds" or "super reeds" (standard boyesens make more power than other choices, so says LRD). That's just to name the most commonly purchased useless items.

Check out www.mobiledyno.com, they have lots of banshee dyno tests with different parts combos.

Sandman...please help me waste my money this spring/summer. Where could I find 34mm carb boots (and for how much $$).
I'm not gonna buy 34mm carbs...just swap (or at least try) my sled and shee carbs. I guess I'll have to rejet, but since it won't cost much...worth a try.
